General Information
Sleepwalkers are dream creatures that feed on bad dreams. When awake, they protect sleeping beings and consume the negative energy of nightmares that is given off and store it in their tail orb, where they convert it to positive dream mist. All Sleepwalkers are Sexless beings, unable to reproduce organically, and are created when someone experiences a lucid dream for the first time. Sleepwalkers are generally very righteous and will defend innocent creatures from harm when they can. After a Sleepwalker has accumulated enough dream mist within their tail orbs, they can then use the mist to give good dreams. Sleepwalkers are the embodiment of both positive dreams. Their dreams can stem from almost anything, and lead to a very wide range of personalities and character.
Occasionally, a Sleepwalker born of a lucid dream will fulfill a bond with their creator. After the bond is formed, the two will become inseparable until either the creator or Sleepwalker dies. ( NOTE: It is important to realize that Sleepwalkers are completely sentient beings with their own original thoughts and emotions. They consider it to be condescending when labeled as "pets". ) Those bonded with a Sleepwalker will find themselves able to see other Sleepwalkers not bonded to them, and will be able to travel within the dream dimension. Any sentient species with the ability to lucid dream can create a Sleepwalker.
Sleepwalkers are all Sexless, and they do not operate on a binary. Pronouns are completely up to the Sleepwalker, and are usually decided after they have some experience with other sentient beings. Some choose to remain genderless while others use gender specific pronouns. The identity depends on the individual.
It is unknown what the average lifespan of a Sleepwalker is. They can range wildly from a few hours/days to many hundreds of years. The oldest recorded Sleepwalker lived to be about 1500.

Behavior
Sleepwalkers are known for being just and righteous creatures. They are able to sense goodness within a being and are very sensitive to negative emotions and actions, such as lying. Sleepwalkers with bonded partners are hardly idle and follow their creators around almost everywhere they go. Personal space is not a thing that Sleepwalkers understand, so they must be taught about privacy and many other species related nuances.
Sleepwalkers are usually very touchy-feely with their bonded partners but skittish around others. They will usually avoid the touch of anyone except their companion. Sleepwalkers who share an especially close bond with their partner may develop touch telepathy or thought empathy.

Interaction
Sleepwalkers are mostly solitary creatures. Bonded Sleepwalkers usually refrain from engaging in group behavior unless their partner is cruel or dead. Sleepwalkers that do gather together build groups that are called Reveries. A Reverie can be comprised of up to 17 Sleepwalkers, though having so many together at once is extremely rare.
A Reverie is usually made up of Sleepwalkers who were either rejected by their partners before they could complete the bond, or who's partners have died. Reveries give off huge amounts of magic and are easily traceable by Mages and other magic practicioners. Although impressive, due to the loner type personalities of most Sleepwalkers, Reveries only last a few months or years before the Sleepwalkers split to find something else that interests them.

Relationships & Reproduction
Since Sleepwalkers are naturally solitary beings, romantic relationships between individuals are quite rare. However that does not mean they are nonexistent. Occasionally two Sleepwalkers might grow to hold true affection for each other. In these cases, the bond between the two will be nearly equal to the bond that they hold with their partners. Sleepwalkers in a romantic relationship are known for living longer, even after their partners have died. Even so, falling in love is not something that most Sleepwalkers actively pursue.
Because Sleepwalkers are asexual, reproduction by traditional methods is completely out of the question. Even if two Sleepwalkers desperately wish to raise a child, the best they could do would be to "adopt" a newly born Sleepwalker that has been rejected by its creator, or to "adopt" a Lesser Sleepwalker who's master/creator is deceased. Both options are quite common among the Sleepwalker community. It is not very uncommon to see pairs of Sleepwalkers, or even single Sleepwalkers, with younger or Lesser Sleepwalkers which they treat as if they were "children". Rejected Sleepwalkers that are adopted by older individuals have higher life spans than their other orphaned relatives.
